The Shiny Chunky Glitter Leather Fabric looks Bling and beautiful, but it is easy to take off, Is any solution to improve the abrasion resistance in the production process?
The answer is sure, below are the 3 solutions that our technicians tested and practiced in the production.
1) The method of glue spray.
Base on the spraying process like previous text mentioned, firstly clean the extra glitter powder on the surface, then use the spray gun to spray one layer of low viscosity, high solid content and glossy polyurethane transparent resin, heating under the temperature of 80 to 120℃, so as to form a thin protective layer on the glitter powder which can improve both the adhesion and abrasion resistance of Glitter Leather, it can keep the shining effect as well.
To avoid the air hole during the healing process which will affect the transparency of the surface, our technicians and production team tested and suggest that the resin spray and heating process can be divided into several times.
2) The method of release paper coating
Base on the spraying process like the previous text mentioned. Film on the release paper, detailed process as below.
Mirror release paper—–Spray polyurethane transparent resin—–Heating with the temperate of 130~150℃ ×1. 5 min—–Spray polyurethane binder———Heating with the temperate of 50℃——Compound the glitter leather with 12 to 24 hours——Separate with the release paper and pack in to roll.
With the release paper coating method, it will form a thin transparent protective film on the surface of glitter leather, so as to improve the abrasion resistance, as well as the flexibility, soft hand feeling, this process, can be applied for the products which required higher abrasion resistance.
3) The method of compounding a film
The production process of compounding a transparent film is as follows.
Firstly clean the extra glitter powder on the surface, then spray one layer of transparent hot melting polyurethane binder, filming the thickness of 0.07mm to 0.1 mm transparent TPU with the mirror roller under the temperature of 150~160℃.
The key point is the choice of hot melting polyurethane binder, transparent TPU, and temperature. The thickness and hardness of transparent TPU should be suitable, if too thick, it will affect the hand feeling and transparency, if too thin, it will affect the smoothness of the surface. Per the experience of our technical team, we suggest choosing the thickness of TPU between 0.07 to 0.1mm.
Regarding the hardness of TPU, if it is too high, the hand feeling of the final product of glitter leather will be too hard and difficult to use, here we suggest choosing the hardness of 50 to 80 for the TPU, also use the 30kg pressure to compound with mirror roller to make sure its fastness.
The advantage and disadvantage of the three methods.
*The method of glue spray keep the concave-convex feeling with hand touching and greatly improve the abrasion resistance, but the flexibility is not improved.
*The method of release paper coating make the surface smooth and keeps its softness, good performance of abrasion resistance, but it is easy to have wrinkles when bent.
*The method of compounding a film also makes the surface smooth and abrasion resistance performed great, also has good flexibility, due to adding the film with the thickness on the surface, which will make hand feeling harder, also due to the TPU film has low capacity and quality is not stable in the domestic market, mainly depend on the import, so the cost is higher.
